New Definition
©josh mcintosh

men of ambition seek power and position
but leave their family home wishin'
wife washing dishes in the kitchen
It's an age old tradition seen from a different position
same as it always has been
it's just a new definition
things change...

it ain't always easy to measure
how sometimes pain comes from pleasure,
how always becomes never
yeah, it's a difficult endeavor
but you'll be light as a feather
as long as you can remember
that some friendships are fleeting
like family is forever
things change but family is forever

things change like a melody on the breeze.
but looking down from the ceiling
it always looks the same.
from the ceiling.
But things change....again with feeling

men of ambition seek power and position
by using simple addition
they turn the truth into fiction
we follow without condition
call it our own intuition
same as it always has been it's just a new definition
things change

we go wherever they lead us
we end up just where they need us
they tell us we shouldn't worry
if we get hungry they'll feed us
so we get caught in a bubble
watching the stock market double
but what was once a cool million
I think is now seven hundred
things change

things change like a memory soaked in red wine
we bet it all on a feeling
but i think we'll be just fine
I got a feeling...
things change, but not really

I been around up and down
I been lost and then found
I been asleep on the ground
after a night on the town
But that's only part of the story
and you can choose to ignore me
or you can follow me home
and I'll tell the rest in the morning
things change, but not really. or do they?

things change like a melody on the breeze
but looking down from the ceiling
it always looks the same
things change like a memory soaked in red wine
we bet it all on a feeling
but i think we'll be just fine
i got a feeling...
but things change
not really

ain't nothing new under the sun
ain't no race that ain't already been run
ain't no new melodies that ain't already been sung
except for maybe this one
and we could go on like this for days
with a clever word or turn of phrase
but i think it's about time for me to say goodbye
and i'll be on my way
la da da da....

it's just a new definition
